The National Geodetic Survey (NGS), a branch of the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is the Federal agency which is tasked with maintaining the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) for the people of the United States.    Surveyors, Geodesists, Scientists, and many other professions rely on accurate positioning of infrastructure and transportation facilities.  We here at Bryan L. Bailey Associates are paying close attention to the direction of the newest Coordinate system to be launched, which will replace the following:

• North American Datum of 1983 (horizontal)
• North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (vertical)

These will be replaced with a combined (4-Dimensional) datum whose name is yet to be decided.

Wait!!! I think you meant "3-D" right?  WRONG!  the fourth "dimension" to be considered is time and velocity.  (Plate Tectonics Theory)
