In New Hampshire, we design a septic system for a specific loading.  That means: how many gallons-per-day, or GPD of effluent will flow into the system.  For residential uses, each bedroom of your home is considered to generate 150 GPD. 

(3 bedroom home) x (150 GPD) = 450 GPD system
